Change is the only constant in life. Coins and paper money have served as the primary method of payment for centuries. The arrival of high-tech cards caused a rapid replacement of these traditional means of payment. This new era of technology calls for an innovative type of wallet. One that protects both your privacy and your money. The Secrid wallet does exactly that both in terms of security and style.
Secrid wallets are small on the outside but surprisingly big on the inside. Each Secrid Wallet incorporates the ultra-thin aluminum Cardprotector.
Protect Your Cards
Plastic cards have a hard time, they get bent and become brittle in your pocket. In particular, RFID/NFC cards are not safely stored in a regular wallet. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) or NFC (Near Field Communication) cards have a chip and an antenna for wireless communication. These cards, such as the public transportation pass, new credit cards and admission tickets, can be activated, selected and copied from up to many meters away, without you noticing. The Secrid Cardprotector works as a firewall in your wallet.
To safely use an RFID/NFC card, you slide it out 3 cm from the Cardprotector; the sensitivity for the radio signal is then substantially reduced, but still sufficient for contact over short distances. By minimizing the time duration and signal strength, you remain outside the reach of digital pickpockets.
The Cardprotector is the core of the Secrid product line. The aluminium Cardprotector protects your most important cards, both against bending and breaking and against your RFID cards being scanned if you don't want them to be (such as the transportation pass, ID card, the latest credit cards and business cards).
Some cards have thickened letters, this is called embossing. You can store up to six cards in the Cardprotector, including one with embossing. Or up to five cards, three of which with embossing. The Secrid Cardprotector is only 8 mm thick and has won a Red Dot Design Award.
